Salesforce, the world’s number 1 CRM giant, has announced its plans to retire the component with the Winter’21 release and Content Packs following the Spring’20 release.
These updates mean that you would have to review your VisualForce pages at regular intervals in the context of component. This means that you have to review your VisualForce pages before the Winter’21 release and seek the assistance of a professional Salesforce development company like Cloud Analogy at the earliest to leverage Lightning Web Components and more.
Content Packs will be retired and the capability of creating new packs or change in file packs will be made unavailable. After the retirement of the content packs, the preview function will no longer work for the files in the content pack.
Reasons Behind Adobe’s Decision
Adobe has announced its decision to stop updating and distributing the Flash Player at the end of the year 2020. This is because the company is trying to encouraging content creators to migrate any form of exiting Flash content to the new open formats. Major browsers are in the process of removing Flash support to align with Adobe timelines: Google, Facebook, Apple, Mozilla, and Microsoft.
In addition to these features going into retirement, the Agent Console feature is also going to be retired. This feature has not been actively enhanced ever since the Spring’11 release. The Agent Console feature has not been available to new customers ever since the Spring’15 release.
The CRM giant also announced the retirement of Mobile Web Experience with the Summer’20 release. Till now, users were able to access the “Salesforce mobile app” experience on their device in two ways:
- through a supported mobile browser
- by the installation of a downloadable Salesforce mobile app from the App or Google Play Store
In short, Salesforce will be removing access to Salesforce on your browser, i.e., the mobile web experience. Starting June 2020, you will need to have Salesforce mobile app installed on your device or make use of Lightning Experience on iPad Browsers. This development is specific to the Salesforce mobile app experience. The mobile web experience is the mobile browser version of the mobile app.
